Self Defence for Women


Is an introductory, Four hour workshop across two days from 10am till 12pm. Designed to support women in developing personal safety awareness, self-confidence and practical self-defence skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Across the course, participants will explore de-escalation techniques, basic self defence awareness, posture and movement, simple defensive techniques and an understanding of UK legal rights around self defence. Sessions combine discussion, demonstration and gentle, guided practice with strong emphasis on choice, consent and wellbeing.

The course is suitable for beginners and for women seeing and inclusive, supportive space to build confidence, learn new skills and share experiences with others. No prior experience or fitness level is required.

What will you learn?

During this 2-day course, learners will:

  1. Day 1 – Foundation of Personal safety & Confidence

○     Getting to know the group and creating a safe supportive learning environment

○     Introduction to self-defence principles and personal safety awareness

○     Understanding when self defence is legal in the UK

○     Mindset of self defence and de-escalation techniques

○     Body language, posture and walking with confidence

○     Distance management and awareness

○     Basic stance, movement and simple defensive techniques

○     Introduction to basic strikes and simple escape techniques.

  1. Day 2 – Apply Skills & Real Life

○     Review of core techniques and confidence gained in Day 1

○     Progression to more advanced strikes and defensive movements

○     Scenario based training focused on real life situations

○     Responding to different types of threats in a safe, controlled way

○     Managing space and using the environment (e.g. walls, exits_

○     Decision making under pressure and stress awareness

○     Legal recap and understanding appropriate responses

○     Reflection, confidence building and next steps for personal practice.
