Crowdfunding Appeal: Humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan

Join the Waltham Forest crowdfunding action

Waltham Forest Council recently launched a crowdfunding campaign in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. The Appeal aims to harness the goodwill and community spirit in Waltham Forest, as the Council expects more Afghans will arrive in the UK through unofficial routes in the coming weeks and months.

Thousands of refugees are currently being supported in short term temporary accommodation across the UK. At the same time, existing asylum seekers from Afghanistan and across the world continue to face an uncertain future.

Funds raised from the Appeal will be going directly to help local charities and organisations working tirelessly to provide vital support to new and existing refugees and asylum seekers in the borough, with food, clothing, and other essential items.

Waltham Forest Council Leader, Cllr Grace Williams said:
As one of the most diverse boroughs in the most diverse city in the world, Waltham Forest has a long and proud history of welcoming people from around the globe. We have begun to support people fleeing Afghanistan into our borough while at the same time ensuring they have the support they and their families need.
We know that many volunteers, charities, and local groups continue to work tirelessly to support new arrivals”.
